“As many ways to give
   as there are reasons…”

Since 1951 we’ve been committed to supporting the finest private colleges and universities in Southern California, and for many good reasons.

Private schools provide a smaller, more nurturing environment that allows professors to concentrate fully on the art of teaching — to go beyond imparting knowledge and skills to instilling values and vision — to become true mentors who can address the individual needs of the special students we support.

These LAPF scholarship recipients are exceptional undergraduates, many from underserved communities, and often the first in their families to earn a baccalaureate degree.

They’ve demonstrated consistent academic achievement, leadership potential and a heart for serving others, but their financial circumstances have put the dream of a private university education out of reach.

As a Los Angeles native, I’m especially proud to lead a dream-fulfilling organization that considers accomplished students from all of our communities worthy of the benefits of a private college education.

And as a donor, I’m especially gratified in giving to a nonprofit whose volunteer board of directors and minimal staff keep its administrative costs extremely low.

Best of all, there are as many ways to give as there are reasons to support the work of LAPF: gifts of cash, annual membership donations, gifts of securities or real estate, gifts through a will or living trust, or a commemorative Legacy Gift that will honor you, your family, or other loved one with a named scholarship in perpetuity.

On behalf of every student we serve, thank you in advance for your tax-deductible gift to the Los Angeles Philanthropic Foundation.

It’s an investment that will not only empower their dreams, but reap dividends for all of us in Southern California, for generations to come.

R. Timothy Philen
